We're all about price and convenience. Quality went out in the 70's. Our local businesses would not be threatened by Wal*Marts if they knew their customers. Wal*Marts knows what people want and they know most local businesses only think they know.

Ever wounder how a convenient store survives when they put one every 4 blocks?

Wal*Marts kills local business because they know how to target the clientèle. I can go to Wal*Mart and buy everything from my groceries to clothes to tools and garden supplies, and at the lowest price in town. I'm not saying our local businesses should sell every thing or try to compete with Wal*Marts buying power, but there are ways to be competitive and survive.

I'd much rather do business with local established businesses but only when its not an inconvenience. When downtown dodge had its Gambles, Eccles(sp), Radio Shack, Walgreen's it was a busy place. The same held true for the Mall. Once the convenience is gone business slows down. When business slows down prices go up. People see a store like Wal*Mart with every thing they need AND extremely lower prices and the rest is history.

In my opinion we need a downtown dodge committee that knows what people want. You put a grocery store, hardware, lawn & garden, clothing, sports, jewelry and restaurants downtown or in the mall and Wal*Marts would close.
