As a Christian (and may I add, at times, not a very good one) I disagree with you on this one. It is my opinion that our society needs standards that can come from the Christian faith. I believe our society needs standards period. Those standards can come from various faiths, Christianity inclueded. There are many other faiths that offer good things. I believe we as a country have abondoned high moral standards and principles and we are now paying a price for that compromise. I would agree and the "majority" of those people ARE in fact Christians they are, like you have professed yourself...."at times not a very good one". People call themselves Christian in name but are usually "not a very good one".I believe most of our founding fathers had a faith in the God of Christianity and they practiced it. But it's also a fact that some of our founding fathers were not Christian, do some research if you want to know the facts.I also believe, that as a result, this country has been blessed by God. I know my beliefs come from the old school and may stand in the minority these days but nontheless, that's what I believe. The great thing is that you have the right to those beliefs.I also say God does have a place in our schools. How so? Just God? Or a Christian GOD? Does Allah, Budah, Jehovah and Lucifer have a place in our schools also or just YOUR God? God does have a place in our Democracy. God does have a place in our capital. And regardless of size, God should have a place in our lives. And for me to sit back and cower (because everyone else thinks and believes different) would be wrong on my part. I'm just as guilty as the next guy by using profanity, telling and laughing at dirty jokes and there are very, very, very few things about me that one would consider saintly. However, I will not fail to recognize the God of Christianity. To recognize God is one thing but to BE Christian is another. I can SAY I'm a Christian but it is my ACTIONS that speak. If I change what God expects of me as a servant to meet MY needs or do what is convienent for me...am I REALLY a Christian or just a Christian in title only? | What's great about our country is that you have the right to worship how you choose. The not so great thing is that if a person isn't Christian they are not accepted by others in some cases. I knew a teacher when I was in Lawton that was fired by the school district because they found out she was Pagan (A witch). So much for freedom of relgion.
