I don’t wish it was Europe but I agree about being treated like cattle. Doctors are service providers but they sure don’t act like it. I could make one heck of a rant of all the crap I’ve been put through. What I’ve found that works for me is to treat doctors like what they are, contract laborers and I’ve fired several.

Lawsuits have their place but we’re to the point where 90% of doctors make lawsuit protection the priority over your treatment. If you have decent insurance they don’t hesitate to run up the bill with tests and prescription drugs so they can claim that you had the best possible treatment. I once had a doctor prescribe a $150 per month med and tell me that I just as well be on it because I had good insurance. Other docs have told me that the med wasn’t needed if I took an aspirin a day. Its no wonder to me why insurance is so expensive.

We have enough problems with HMOs dictating our treatment without the government trying to step in.
