| Having been there for all four kids births, and having them all in Europe, I can say that the american system is much MUCH better. I had my first two in Germany, and my second two in Italy. If you wanna talk about scarry, you shoulda seen the look on my face when they came out with the IV fluids in glass bottles in Italy. It was straight up civil war era crap there. In Germany, the Chief of Staff for the hospital delivers all babies for Americans, but in Italy, midwives do all the dirty work. The European system doesn't cover epidurals BTW. The good drugs cost extra under socialized medicine, only local anastesia is free.
