| Wordy nails it on this. I wouldn’t want my kid around a hysterical or panicked teacher with or without a gun. My take has always been if I can’t trust that teacher with a gun, I can’t trust that teacher with my kid period.
We need to remember that no one is proposing that we just arm all teachers. What has been discussed is any teacher that wants to go through all the requirements to get a CCW be allowed to carry on the job.
This no guns in school has gotten so insane that I’ve seen news stories where a cop in uniform isn’t allowed to go into a school with a gun if its parent business instead of police business. Being careful about who carries is one thing, being ridiculously paranoid about guns is something else. |
