| I don't think the point of the article was "Hispanics for hispnanics sake," but rather they're underrepresented. The point of a representative government is to give a voice that echoes the population.
When half of our population is hispanic, yet there's only been one hispanic in an official position in almost 20 years... that seems to be a problem to me.
But, that also seems echoes the tendency of people on this board to assume that all the hispanics in Dodge City are illegal.
I agree, that simply to plug a hispanic into an office because there's a dearth is a bad idea. But, if there are quality leaders in the community who simply haven't stepped forward... then yes. Something needs to be done.
But hey. That's just a moderate's opinion.
