| I love to go to rodeos and watch the competition. I grew up around cattle and have worked at several feed yards in my younger days. I've done things to cattle (easy lurker) that I'm sure PETA would not approve of...(de-horning, casterating, branding, etc.) but these things are neccessary.
To be quite honest, I'm not a PETA fan. They are much to radical in thier beliefs for me. However, this steer jerking contest, (and I've watched it) IMO, is questionable. The announcer got it right when he said this competition was held in the a.m. hours so that most people are at work and won't be at the rodeo to be upset by it. There is a reason that this competition is not a nightly contest as other events. I'm not really offended by the event, but the animals do take a beating.
