| Back yeas ago when I was at KU, the Hawks somehow was ahead of UCLA at halftime 24-0. The next day a sportwriter for the Topeka Capitol-Journal's lead was: When sportswriters across the nation saw the halftime score flashed on various scoresboards across the country, they must have wondered what the scorekeeper at KU was smoking.
Priceless.
Former Jayhawk standout John Zook is being inducted into the state's Sports Hall of Fame today in Wichita. I played against "Swoop," as we called him then in practice at Larned. He was head and shoulders, both literally and figuratively, above the rest of us.
