Joke or no joke the reason so many people were walk ons for the Huskers is because of The Great Tom Osbourne.

Not only did he PERSONALLY visit his recruits but potential recruits as well. He went to their hom,es he went to their high schools, he talked to the parents and was probably the most respected coaches out there. He didnt send recruiters he was the recruiter.

Even though Solich was under him for 25yrs and was hand picked to continue their dominance over the other teams he just was not respected as a replacement of Osbourne and honestly who is? The man won back to back Nat'l Championships plus 1 more in his last four years and had a record of something like 255-49-3 NEVER had a losing season and Solich was a main reason that they were so successful BUT Pederson had to come in and screw it up by firing Frank Solich who i might had had the saem 6 yr record as Osbourne before he was fired.

I believe that it will take a homegrown hardcore old school Husker to bring it all back and that is going to take 10 yrs to rebuild and I hope Osbourne stays on as AD so it can be achieved.

As long as Osbourne has some form of control over the athletics there, players will come
