Also how about the homeless vets that have been shunned by their families or whatever. I am guessing they wouldn't turn down one of those FIMA trailers that are sitting in storage and rotting away.

The National Coalition for Homeless
Veterans estimates that on any given
night, 299,321 veterans are homeless.
Approximately 33% of homeless
men are veterans, although
veterans comprise only 23% of the
general adult male population.
The Cause
Two trends are largely responsible
for the rise in homelessness in
recent years: a growing shortage
of affordable rental housing and a
simultaneous increase in poverty.
In most states a minimum-wage
worker would have to work 89
hours each week to afford a
two-bedroom apartment at 30% of
his or her income, which is the
federal definition of affordable
housing (National Low Income
Housing Coalition). Borgen Project- Homeless in America |
I'm not going to argue a case against homeless vets because that's a travesty. There are MANY programs to help these people.

They can get guaranteed home loans etc. I don't know why we have so many homeless vets and it's a sad thing when there are so many programs out there not to mention VETS can go to school for free in many states or most have the GI Bill which is over $38,000 for college right now. I don't know why they wouldn't use it to go to school and better themselves. I do understand that some homeless are mentally ill or drug dependent and those should be helped. I believe they could get help at the V.A. There are many mechanisms put in place to help these people yet so many exist...I wonder why.
