Here is what I sent....

Sir,

I'm sure you are familiar with the article that appeared yesterday in the Dodge Globe concerning Garden City cracking down on people driving without a drivers license and consequently insurance. I personally feel that the leadership of the Garden City community had the safety and best interest of their citizens in mind when they approved this step towards making their city safer for all.

The questions I would like to pose to you sir as a leader of our community is that do you feel like this would make the community safer? If so would it be possible to do the same thing in Dodge City? What obstacles would stand in the way from making it happen?

A consequence of those that drive with no license is the same individuals driving without insurance. When one of these uninsured motorist is responsible for an accident with one of the good citizens of our community that citizen has to pay which will drive insurance rates up in the long run and adverse affect our community.

I have talked to other great citizens in Dodge and many of them mirror my opinion. I have a wife and young child. I personally feel that our streets would be much safer with less unlicensed drivers on the road. What would it take to make this happen?

Sincerely,

SFC Walter W. Hermreck
