First of all, grats on the victory. KU came to Kyle ready to play
Im not saying any of this to take away what KU has done this year, but if they play the same way on the O and D that they did against my Aggies, Missouri will eat them alive and Oklahoma will tune em up in the Big 12 championship if it gets to that.
A&M suffers the plight of being a one dimensional offense. I could sit down and watch 30 minutes of game film and come up with a defensive plan for them. I have no idea why we continue to use the zone read option the way we do. Its very high schoolish. When we went to the I formation with Bernard as the blocking back and J-Lane as the H back, we would gain yards hand over fist, but we would go right back to the zone read crap right after (see the TT game where we scored first... all I formation). The one play in the KU game where Lane gained 15 or so yards was out of the I and that was with KU stacking the box with 7 or 8.
It all comes down to coaching. KU out-coached my Aggies. A&Ms coaching staff is THE worst in the Big12. All the talent in the world is there. They have wasted a superior passing QB in McGee and turned him into an option QB, just the same way they did to Reggie McNeil. Tragic to say the least. A&M has one of the best tight ends in the nation and he didn't get the ball until the 4th quarter. We could have nickled and dimed KU to death with the short pass to open up the run, but you saw what the coaches were determined to do... option right, option left
A&M looked lethargic and, at times, lost on the field Saturday. That is attributed to coaches not having players ready at gametime. Fundamentals... you dont arm tackle a 250lbs running back.
Dont think for one minute I am bitter about this loss. I was 50/50 on win/loss Saturday. I wanted my Aggies to win, but in the end, the loss served Aggieland better. KU drove the final nail into the coffin of the present coaching staff... Rest assured that the HC/OC/
DC will be gone at the end of the year.
Thanks for the help getting rid of the cancer infecting Aggie football and I will be cheering for KU the rest of the way.
