I have not seen a copy of the Garden City ordinance so I would hate to comment on what effect this will have. Any mandatory sentencing guidelines that require jail time for non violent offenses would require facilities that we currently do not have. I would want to explore what impact any ordinance change would place on the limited jail space and limited tax resources. If it made sense to implement a change then the process would typically come from the staff level with a recommended ordinance and public hearing and vote on whether or not to adopt the ordinance. You would have an opportunity to comment at the public hearing. As of this time the current state law is what is enforced.
Thanks

That is total B.S. I know Sowers, and he has some of the dumbest ideas about illegals and alot of other issues too. I wanted to say he is ultra liberal, but he is way left of even Wordy. To hell with worrying about jail space. Just confiscate the perp's vehicle! It's simple. No insurance? No license? No car!
