No - we're out shopping for more jewelery!!
Although, just to clarify, I don't have any tattoos, and my non-ear piercing is (usually) not visible. Sometimes, though, if you know where to look... well, you know.
It's not entirely about metal sticking out of a person's face or surface piercings visible above the shirt collar. Firefighters aren't allowed to have facial hair, with the occasional exception of mustaches. The reason? Facial hair doesn't allow the SCBA mask to get a good seal. The harness on an SCBA mask is the reason I'm not big into wearing earrings. You never know when the pager's going off, and the harness on the mask will easily rip out an earring - especially when you're in a hurry.
However, haven't had a bit of problem with the other things. Bunker gear provides quite a bit of padding when working with a hoseline, even less than a week after fresh piercings. The first time I slid my torso over a school bus seat while doing extrication training, though... that smarted!
