Laser printers do indeed have a printhead. It is also known as a laser scanner assembly. It is the part of the laser that scans the image onto the OPC drum, after the charging cycle, in preperation for the developing cycle. They are costly- usually between 180-300. It is usually easier to just replace the printer than to replace a laser scanner assembly in a cheap printer. I've replaced a few, only on a big laser printer and only because it was under warranty- and
it was not fun. Personally, I'd
trash it.
Keep in mind that ALL DELL laser printers are made by Lexmark, not dell- tell me your model number and I will get you to the Lexmark equivalent manual.
Here is some reference info for you, on the error.
Oh, and if you do decide to replace the part, don't forget to perform the laser calibration and the laser alignment procedures.
