| I've always felt that when you teach someone to do something for themselves instead of buying it from you, you deepen your relationship - for they are forever indebted to you. China is struggling to find ways to employ their people. If they can do it better, then we either need to improve our processes or step aside. Obviously, there's a struggle there - they have outdated processes and will have to spend untold millions of dollars to improve them, including upsetting an entire community.
I've been learning in the past couple of weeks that to grow, you have to be vigilant of other opportunities and ready to change. Change isn't popular, especially when we see a few years later that it wasn't the best deal for us, but it will happen even if we have to go along kicking and screaming.
So why not embrace it? If, in Wichita's case, they're afraid of being replaced by Chinese at a Chinese plant, then re-educate themselves in another line of work in the same industry or even a different industry. Besides, this plan of China's is at least 5 years down the road. That leaves a lot of time for changes.
