[quote=K C Muffin;56875]When I leave for work late, I end up in a school zone surrounded by morons. The parents actually drive on the wrong side of the street trying to get into the drop-off lane first. I stopped at the stop sign, the proceeded in MY lane where I met head-on a mother who was trying to butt in the line of cars waiting to turn left into the school....QUOTE]

We need to read KCM carefully - and remember she's in KC, yet it sounds just like Northwest in DC every school morning! The point is that parental-idiots live everywhere, of every nationality, it's not isolated to Dodge City. It's a 'me' focal change in society and not restricted to school zones.

Often, the dumping of kids on the wrong side of the car or street is because the parental-unit is late. That teaches children that it's OK to disobey rules of safety or public conduct. They grow up to do the same. Courtesy, respect for others, being on-time, and 'look-both-ways' types of education are lost and we see the deterioration every day.

Thanksfully, I was raised with a heavy-handed dose of manners and our children and grandchildren have survived the same social training. Are we lost as a mannered society, or is there still hope? I remain negative.
