I had forgot about that. It would make sense that a hot tub could be a breeding ground for some real nastiness because the water actually doesn't get hot enough to kill off the most virulent strains of bacteria. However alot of folks use hot tubs and are ok. Its a conundrum for sure.
So sad for him too. He was a very dedicated officer and loved his job.
