I'm sure he knows quite a few of the recipients of BB-BS benefits rely on welfare to make ends meet. He doesn't really find welfare recipients that repulsive - he just likes to make you think he does. It's just for argument sake. Or he's a hypocrite............ I think he just like to argue - he thinks it makes you "think" (like you can't do that without the argument)
