No it's the benefits and the money duh. Just because someone gets $39,000 for their education or a 30k or 40k bonus doesn't mean they are being used. I had a guy with a masters degree join and got over 40K of his student loans paid off. Are we using that guy or did he come to the Army for the financial opportunity? By the way he was a teacher at a high school and subbed at a college but he could make more money and have better bennies in the Army, imagine that!?
We are increasing pay and benefits to be competitive with the civilian world. Until recently the economy was very good so we have to be competitive with other companies that hire young people hence the bonus money. Sure Iraq is a factor but I can tell you from experience that most of the people we put in in this area it's not really that big of a deal. I guess you would like to get on a podium and tell all the military members that are serving their country they are being USED. You are definetely showing the signs of being a good democrat. Congrats.
