FWIW ..concerning all the special interest groups...G/L, Black, women etc...well they matter but you can win the electin without them. The "angry" white guy is who elects the president. In 2004 Kerry won the female vote, the non-white vote (both overwhelmingly), the African American, the Latino, the union vote, the Jewish vote, the gay/lesbian vote (by a lot) but didn't win the white male vote and lost by 3 million or so votes.
I'm not sure if that holds true for every election but I would guess it does for most of them.
