I would privatize social security first and foremost. Think about all the money a working person pays into the "social security pot" each year. Soon there will be more people taking out than paying in which is going to be a problem. Imagine if when you started working (16 or 17 years old) and a portion of your SS was invested into your OWN account and drew say an avg of 8% until you retired. We would have a lot of people retiring with money to live on and NOT dependent on the federal gov't to feed them. (There are certain parties that don't want to lose control of these funds so are against this)

There are many things that could be privatized and be better off for it. There should be some gov't regulation though. I believe education should be somewhat privatized. Gov't is doing a very poor job of running schools.

Some more progressive states are taking steps in privatizing gov't all the way down to the local levels and having success in most cases. EVEN the military has contracted out things or privatized in order to more efficient.

We focus on short term priorities sometimes without thinking about the long term cost. (Social Security) which will eventually leave us in a position to either raise taxes, cut benefits and services or privatize.

When things are privatized it brings competition and when you have competition you usually get good results at a good price. The consumer wins.

Everyone is clamoring for more gov't this and more gov't that but in essence who can spend your money better..you or the federal gov't? When your tax money hits the gov't it's wasted on so many levels that it's sick and that's by both parties.
