Yes they do, our neighbor used to have a dog that would bark at like 3am every morning to be in, she always went out right before they went to bed and ran the neighborhood and about 3am she would stand at the front door and just bark and bark and bark. Drove me crazy! Most of the time they were quick to get up and let her in but some nights they slept through her so she would bark for hours before she would shut up!
