So let me ask you this? Is the economy back there really up a creek like we're hearing over here? I mean, the wife has given me permission to continue with my recruiter packet, but only if I can get Manhattan, because there are already 6 houses on my street for sale, so chances of getting what we paid for it are slim. So until this clears up, Ft. Riley is where I'll be. |
Personally I don't think the economy is THAT bad. One sector of the economy is blowing up right now housing/mortgage but that happens. (tech bubble/enron/etc) It has a trickle down effect obviously but things aren't as bad as the media portrays. If the media says the economy is bad people believe it then they want change and BO can come in and "fix" everything...if it's not broken he can't fix it so it HAS to be broken.
A lot of people losing their houses are people that probably shouldn't had that house in the first place. It would be like me trying to drive a Ferrari on my income...and having my payment go up...I would be so stretched out driving it that I couldn't afford the payment to go up anymore and lose it.
There are still lots of places hiring. The stock market is still going up. We are not in an official recession. The mortgage thing will be just like the tech stocks...the bubble burst, it will correct and we will drive on from there.
There was an article in the paper here in Dodge that the "mortgage issue" hasn't really reached Dodge that much. I guess that's because the people here don't have ARM's on their homes.
Good ruck with recruiting raggy...
