| Today is March 6th.. on this day in 1836, on the final day of a 13 day siege, 3000 mexican soldiers under the command of General Santa Anna finally overran the 150 rag tag volunteers defending the Alamo garrison in San Antonio de Bexar. Amogst the dead were American heroes Lt. Col William Travis, Jim Bowie and former Congressman David Crockett, known to his Tennessee Volunteers as 'Davy'.
