| I drive an '07 Nissan Frontier (after trading-off a '99 Frontier, bought new in '98). I couldn't have been (or be) happier with either one. And you know what? They were both built right here in Tennessee, USA. The engines were built in Japan, but the body and tranny were made here, put together by country-boys like me.
Before '98, I drove Chevy S-10/full size pickups or Chevy/GMC Blazers since '74. Yep, the things were in the shop for substantial repairs on a near-regular basis. Meanwhile, if they were out of warrenty, I was either on-foot or paying for a rental car for transportation. When my '96 S-10's engine blew (for no reason... I've always done all the basic maintenance myself), I knew it was time to try something different. I bought a new engine, had the shop drop it in, then traded (I was money ahead doing this) for a Nissan.
Heaven knows, I buy American every chance I get, but automotive issues are a whole 'nuther story. |
