I think it is, although after having lived there most of my life before the move to Kansas I might be biased.. Although I still have family there.. Now, LA has more movie stars and all that you can catch a glimpse of.. except, Eva Longoria, who Ive seen downtown at the Rivercenter Mall a couple of times.. GRRR, shes a hottie!
Someone mentioned Fredericksburg.. its a cool place to go, about 80 miles from San Antonio into the Hill Country. Its a small German community with a cool downtown shopping area with a lot of unique stores and a small microbrewery as well. Several authentic German restaurants, and probably the most famous for being the birthplace and hometown of Admiral Chester Nimitz.. They have the Nimitz Museum there which is a GREAT museum if youre into World War II. In fact, they have one of the Japanese mini-subs that was lost during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Austin is only an hour and a half north of San Antonio on I-35 and is the state capitol of Texas and you can visit the Capitol building, plus 6th Street in Austin is famous for strange shops and bars.. Keep Austin Weird!
