My guess is it has something to do with the fact it took him 2 years to contact authorities. Course when you do contact authorities they tell you an "adult" has the right to do whatever they want so long as they are not a threat to themselves or someone else. By that they mean suicide or murder - just being wierd or non functioning doesn't qualify. Been down that road with someone way too many times.

I must say tho Kansas is easier to get intervention than Tx or California. I figured this poor guy was doing the best he could - not really sure he's all there either. What a wierd story tho.
