I went there on my honeymoon a couple years ago and had a blast. We spent 2 whole days and nights just exploring the Riverwalk area. We stayed at a Holiday Inn that was right on the edge of down town. For a very low fee, you can buy bus passes that go all over the down town area. There are three or four different routes the busses take, all color coded, and easy to read. Our hotel was half a block from a stop, so we didnt even drive. The busses go all over - the Alamo, different places above the Riverwalk, you name it...

On the way down - and the way back actually - we stopped at a HUGE outlet mall not too far away from SA. I want to say New Braunfels, but I could be off on that, but just ask around when you are in the area and people will know what you are talking about. For those who like to shop, they had everything - clothes, shoes, sporting goods, home decor...we dropped plenty of money there!

We also spent one day and drove to Corpus Christi - had no idea what there was to do there, but ended up on the beach touring a retired air craft carrier, which was really cool. It is a museum now complete with retired air craft and you can go all over the ship.
