| Using the "Nazi" label ends their debate with the intelligent mind(s). It's a self-preservation thing for those who chose to use the label to avoid exposing a lack of facts; but it leads their mindless followers.
The downside is that it alienates their 'members' who chose to think and decide for themselves. No one really knows how many Dem's have fled the fold because of this ill-fated tactic. Maryland's going to be another example of how this works.
