The waste issue is easy IMO, just NIMBY's dont want to deal with it. Now instead of waste concentrated in one spot we have reactor waste sitting on tarmacs outside of dozens of locations. They are encased in a special concrete and metal container though, but I would rather them be buried 3 thousand feet down in the middle of the desert where there isnta water table to speak of then sitting around in mulptiple places.
Now the other thing is that when you stop to think of the amounts of deaths attributed with coal mining and oil, not to mention secondary deaths by particulates and Co2, sulfides etc and way them against the only deadly nuclear accident at Chernobyl, the human cost is clear. Nuclear is the only safe way to go for mass energy creation.
