Social Security

Since I am a member in good standing of AARP... I am troubled about the news regarding SS and Medicare..

So I was curious bout the government dipping into the funds and I found this.
I knew they did it but ....I thought they always paid it back into the fund.... I really did ..... gawd !!!!!! I R a dingbat.

What's in a 'surplus'?
The U.S. figures its annual bottom line by including all tax revenues - including taxes that can only be used to pay Social Security benefits. If revenues fall short, the government has customarily borrowed from Social Security. ( I guess the bozos think what is paid into it is just free money for their dipping asses)

Here's the math behind the Congressional Budget Office prediction: (check out the date on the page....Oi vey

$153 billion = Total budget surplus
$162 billion = Off-budget surpluses*
$9 billion = Shortfall

*Includes Social Security trust funds as well as the net cash flow of the Postal Service

Here is one page I found. (Check out the date.)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- This year's federal budget surplus has plunged to $153 billion because of the nation's economic doldrums and the Bush administration's tax cut, meaning the federal government will have to cover $9 billion of spending by dipping into Social Security, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office projected Tuesday.

CNN.com - CBO: Social Security funds needed to balance books - August 29, 2001

We didn't even have a war going on yet and they were already gonna have to dip......

Its time for revolution............

Sad thing is ...most people blame it on us geezers cause we finely get a "free check". God Forbid...

Blame the right abusers dammit.

I gotta up my Zoloft....
