This is a terrible accident. Being a parent of kids that age makes a person think. My heart hurts for all involved. In a town like that everybody knows everybody. Im sure every single person there is affected by this tragedy. It is an awful way to learn a lesson, about teen driving, cell phones, or open lunch periods at school. The biggest lesson should be that when you leave the house or your kids leave the house, they may not come home. Everybody... love your kids. Tell them you love them. Grab them and hug them, no matter how old they are. I cant imagine never being able to do that again, or only having the "last" memory. Living the rest of my life trying to remember if I said " I love you" when they left, or if the night before they went to bed mad for some trivial reason.
Treasure your kids. Do something extra special with your kids this weekend . When they look at your like your crazy and ask you what is up with you, tell them that no matter what they are a special gift and you love them.
Remember those parents in Ulysses. They dont have the chance to do that anymore.
