Ozone story about Trego County

For some reason I have a hard time believing the ozone density in Trego is due to pollution being carried in from other states. For one ozone is a relatively short lived molecule in the atmosphere as O3 is unstable(half life of 22 hours) over long periods and has to be replenished by solar energy(more in the upper stratosphere) and lightenening which brings me to my suggestion to those who did the study. I think they need to look at lightening strike intensity. If you look at lightening strike intensity maps you will notice that Trego sits in a highly intense lightening strike area which can generate excessive amounts of ozone. ANyways just thought that story was a bit presumptive in its conclusions.
