My wife and I wish to truly thank all of you for support and kind words and thoughts. While Macy was only in my life for a few years, she was in my wife's for 14. There are many, many pictures of her and my wife had kept a journal for many years. I had to put my beloved pet, Prince, to sleep two years ago this month. I found great peace and solace by being able to write about my pain, for even today I still cry sometimes thinking of him. I fully believe that all of God's creatures, little or large, have a piece of God with them. Just look deeply into your dog's eyes and tell me that there is not peace and unconditional love in there. I know that when my day comes, my beloved Prince will be there at the bridge.....his tail wagging and him running in circles chasing it.....to help me cross over. I also know that Macy will be there for my wife.....barking so hard she lifts her front paws off the ground....to guide her over. My wife was never able to conceive and carry a child, and with her illness she will never be able to have one. Macy was her child. It is the guilt of having to make the decision that tears one up. It is the hopelessness of not being able to do anything that angers one. It is the reality that we will outlive them that saddens us. Without them, though, our lives would be missing an important piece. Those who injure and hurt animals for no reason, or for selfish ones, have an empty spot in their soul. They can not understand compassion, they only know self fulfilment. I pity them and their simple, meaningless lives.
Again, my family wishes to thank you all. Your words have givin us added comfort and warmth.
