We just bought a new vehicle. Other than safety and reliability, fuel efficiency was very important. We purchased a Honda CRV. I get 29/30 Mpg on the highway. I'm going to sell my Mustang and am considering getting a scooter. ( Don't laugh)
Other than that we haven't changed our lifestyle much. We do a menu and budget for grocery's to keep from impulse buying which saves.
On the gas note: They AVG on a car is 15000 miles a year which is 1250 miles per month. If you car gets 20 mpg you should use about 63 (62.5) gallons of gas a month. If the price is 3.10 a gallon that is $195.30 a month on gas. NOW if gas goes to 3.70 a gallon lets say that is 233.10 a month in gas. That is a whopping $37.80 more on gas a MONTH which broken down is an extra $9.45 a week. Now if you have two cars that all doubles but still that would only be $75.00 a month more on gas for 2 cars if you are an average driver. A lot of people waste that on cigs/lottery tickets/eating out/etc. THe real cost of gas going up is in the goods and services we pay for.
