Yes at one time unions were highly relevant to the needs of the workers in America, and even today there are cases were unionizations help occasionally against the big corporations.. However now many functions that the unions used to do are handled by the US Govt(work safety, wage laws, etc). Unions today care only about one thing, their own personal greed. When companies like GM have gardeners they are paying 60,000 a year because they can't fire them even if the employee is at fault then you have massive problems. Thanks to unions GM may not even have the money in the future to even pay the billions and billions in pensions that autoworkers will receive, they get better pay and benefits for being uneducated workers than I do as a microbiologist.
