I would bet that all of us who were alive when JFK was shot remember exactly where we were at and how we felt - much the same as the Challenger disaster, 9/11 etc. Those were a few of many horrific events that shocked our souls.

Haven't our children been desensitized to violence and death because of live TV in war zones, movies, games, rap music - that graphically display or even encourage a lack of value of human life?

That lack of social sensitivity has influenced a growing lack of respect, both in schools and at home. Combined with overworked parents, legal restraints on discipline, and breakdown of family units and values, we have the result - children that carry guns to school.

I never encourage censorship, but I do feel we all have some responsibility for what we have encouraged or caused. How do we change the course we are on?
