We're at opposite ends of a discussion again, 88...

I was thinking on the way home today - as the VW is scheduled to be in the shop tomorrow for scheduled maintenance and I have to drive the pickup to work....I betcha one of these days soon, gas will get high enough that the libs will be down on their knees begging the oil companies to drill in Alaska.

I understand and respect the opinion that we need to keep the beautiful land free of outside drilling. The fact is, we can't afford to keep it ALL anymore. The economy will crumble - we won't be able to spend enough in welfare payments to keep people from starving to death. There will be more people robbed and killed because starving people or people that are watching their families (and children) starve are willing to do anything.

The price of everything is affected by fuel prices. So, when did tree-huggers get to decide all by themselves that it was time for the economy to stagger.

This is off-topic, but we had to lay off two (possibly three by tomorrow) more people today. We laid them off in mostly unskilled positions, and that's probably the hardest. I know they'll have a harder time finding another position because there aren't many unskilled positions available. The economy's in the toilet - and gas prices aren't helping.
