Lightbulb DCDays fun?

Not sure if this is the forum for this post or if there even is a forum for crafty stuffs on here...but here goes...

A couple of friends and I are thinking of dressing up in hoop skirts ala "southern belles" sorta, although we're not going for really authentic costumes. Planning to wear these around somewhere for a few events during DCDays just to have some fun. Anyone else want to join us? And anyone have any tips for me to use (or is willing to help me) while sewing my costume? I've only ever sewn one costume for myself and that was for a rennaissance fair. I have a pattern already for a crinoline and overskirt. Planning on making a corset and wearing it over a long sleeved shirt as my top... Like I said, we're going for more of "period style" rather than authentic costumes. I'm also knitting a little purse/bag to carry my cell/keys/cash in while I'm at it. Now if only I could go without my glasses or wristwatch... I'm so "naked" without those...not to mention blind as a damn bat... lol
