| I didn't reread the story, but I thought it said that the SSN was buried in a list of numbers that identified each addressee. So unless I know the number is a SSN and how many numbers are before it and after it, why am I going to waste my time? It's a lot easier to just lurk (sorry, Lurker) around a pay telephone at the airport and listen for the tones as the credit card is 'typed' in.
