| Olathe, KS Butler National Neither casino applicant is actually 'local' -- that Butler National and Dodge City Gaming both have local lobbyist groups is true. That Butler National has the local CFAB Chair listed as their real estate agent is a true conflict of interest, but counts as 'local' in some form I guess.
I think of Wichita as more local than Olathe, but what's a few hundred miles. Butler National is a stock owned company, so their share holders, if ever listed, might be from China -- or maybe local politicans, too ? (Given their low value, buying them outright would be possible by 'locals' I guess. Just a few million dollars and that casino application could be owned by you or me.... )
No way to know who owns Butler, actually. There is nothing more local about one than the other. That's a fact. And both are equally Kansas operated. The July 31st public comment Dodge City meeting might bring up some issues about one or the other, issues that could cause long legal delays. And delay is one issue that the state of Kansas may want to avoid. We'll see. |
