| Hubby is also a retired vet. But he wasn't a POW. I'm not really sure his life was on the line, although he did do some pretty crappy service - in Honduras and other rotten places. His retirement pay isn't a whole lot - we won't retire rich when we retire, but the medical stipend attached to it is a real lifesaver. I wonder if that's included in McCain's total. I'm not bothering to check it out, though, because I have a deep belief that the man deserves what we can pay him. A POW has done his service to the country in a real way. Even if he weren't running for President.
