I'm pretty sure that a list of stolen property is sent to pawn brokers on a weekly basis. Down here that's an easy way to wind up in jail. I know one place they did a sting on - undercovers was sellin stuff that had been listed a stolen. Owner got to spend an evening in jail, had to go to court, and wasn't too happy. He felt like he was set up, but got popped just the same. He is still in business but I bet he's more careful. Sure it cost him a pretty penny.
