That's why they have them sign the paperwork, stating that they own that property when they sell it to them. Why? Because then they have paperwork, stating that they bought it in good faith. I believe also that they get a thumb print as well.
Ask the cops in town, if the Pawn Shops cooperate with them. YES they do.
I for one found my stolen jewelry at Lily's Pawn shop over a year ago. Yes the police got a search warrant, and YES Lily's cooperated. The had thier paperwork in order, with the thief's signature, saying he owned that property, as well as his thumbprint. NO I have not gotten my jewelry back, because the county attorney's office has NOT filed charges, AND Lily's has NOT been reimbursed the money. I am still trying to get something done about this, BUT the county attorney's office will not return my calls.
