Outside the speech, a couple hundred people protested Bush's policies - particularly the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. But inside the building, the audience of about 9,000, which included 800 Fort Riley soldiers, lavished Bush with applause and cheers.

Perhaps "a couple hundred people " is being generous.
