I see why you were cryin' for support, Texie - and I'm sorry I wimped out on ya and went to bed early! Here's the way I see it - Bush is a good leader. I think he speaks from his heart, as discombobulated as it is. He just isn't well prepared for extemporaneous remarks, as Wordie already pointed out. Doesn't mean he's dumb, just not good on his feet.
A politician is a politician in my books. I have to laugh at how often one of the congressmen change parties - it's just because they think they might have a better chance of being nominated for a position. No other reason. So. Bush is a good leader, but he is by no means leading this country alone. We vote for a President and hope he puts together a good Cabinet and surrounds him(her)self with good advisors. In my mind, we're not voting for an individual to lead the country, we're voting for an individual who is capable of assembling a great team to lead the country. And I think that Bush is very capable in that respect. |
I agree, do you want a President who can play the saxaphone on MTV, is a great speaker and a weak leader or do you want a president with strong moral convictions and one that is a great leader but maybe not so great of a public speaker? I'll take the second choice. ALTHOUGH President Clinton WAS a leader in many aspects. Here are some of the things that where he lead:
RECORDS SET
- The only president ever impeached on grounds of personal malfeasance
- Most number of convictions and guilty pleas by friends and associates*
- Most number of cabinet officials to come under criminal investigation
- Most number of witnesses to flee country or refuse to testify
- Most number of witnesses to die suddenly
- First president sued for sexual harassment.
- First president accused of rape.
- First first lady to come under criminal investigation
- Largest criminal plea agreement in an illegal campaign contribution case
- First president to establish a legal defense fund.
- First president to be held in contempt of court
- Greatest amount of illegal campaign contributions
- Greatest amount of illegal campaign contributions from abroad
- First president disbarred from the US Supreme Court and a state court
Again, Muffy you hit the nail on the head when you said the Pres. doesn't do it all alone. He surrounds himself with strong leadership. Most of Clinton' cabinet either resigned, was indicted or killed...lol. And we wonder why there is a Republican majority!
