| good for you, Dustin - I hope my grandkids (if I ever get any!!!) learn the same way. The blame does lie solely with the parents - they weren't watching the kids when the kids were watching TV - and they didn't bother to see what their 8-year-old put in his backpack. An 8-year-old isn't ready for the kind of responsibility to take complete care of himself. I count making sure the backpack and lunch is ready for school the next day as taking care. Somebunny wasn't doing their job.
Course I heard today that the dad was charged with unlawful possesion of a firearm and felony child endangerment - the possesion of a firearm got his probation revoked. And the mom was just charged with felony child endangerment. They lost their kid(s) and will have to petition the court to get them back. I just hope they're more watchful then. Prolly not, though - they are prolly the same ones that think they're blameless.
