You might be surprised about that. A family that moved back from Las Vegas (where they have year-round shift schools), commented they hated to lose that. The class size was smaller, not everyone had a break at the same time, which allowed more parents to take vacations when their kids were out of school - instead of having to work around everybody else's vacations at work. The kids had more frequent and shorter breaks, which allowed them to retain the material better from one "session" to the next. Because the sessions were shorter than the semester we know, there were more opportunities for the student to be assessed and held back if necessary. And when held back, it wasn't such a stigma because the others in the class didn't necessarily know about it. And they were only held back maybe a session instead of a whole grade. And then there are the financial breaks. There are real positives, but the negatives would be hard to overcome in SW Kansas.
