Hubby's done a couple of those, too. They have a little bitty room with a little bitty bed (more like a cot) and tell 'im to ignore what's going on and sleep naturally. As if! He said they come in with a flashlight (like they do in the horsepistol) and wake him just to see if he was sleeping. Sounded like an odd sleep study to me! Naaa, me? I'll just take a cup o'warm milk like Granny used to do.

I had several done here, and (as i have said on numerous occasions) this hospital is a big joke--(all except the computer specialist)!! Their equipment is junk, their techs are jokes, their facilities stink, and most of the time the tests are worthless!! The only thing they are good at here, is making sure they bill the hell out of you no matter what!! I have had sleep studies done, at other facilities, and the results are totally different and a helluva lot more reliable.

KC, Again your bringing up stuff from years ago. You gotta know what your talking about if your going to make snide comments. Start by getting informed first. Last time a comment like this was made, it refered to the early to mid 90's.

The sleep study is a single full sized patient bed all by itself in a full sized room designed for 2 beds (regular patient room). A new walls/doors was built in the hallway to cut down on the noise about 6 months ago. This is probably because someone like MITUSA had the guts to let someone know how it could be improved, instead of just bit_hing about it later.

Wow 7 sleep studies and no one knows what is going on? Sounds like you need a new doctor, not new equipment. It also sounds like no one else or their equipment can figure out your sleep problems.

WE ARE ALL FOR BETTER IMPROVEMENTS

I will make no excuses, but I will let the appropriate people know what is being said in hopes something may be improved upon.

As far as equipment being Junk, I can say I am not in the medical device field, but I would not even go there. We are constantly upgrading equipment for our doctors and patients.

Just this year, the sleep study had been upgraded in equipment as well as the construction like I said. We also have just installed a new system for Radiology for imaging as well as new 64 slice cat scan which is a big upgrade over the single slice. Have you heard we have a new Heart Lab (Cath) in the last year? There was none before. New specialists have also been added to the roster in the last year.

The temp cath lab will be moved into the main building after the next phase of construction is complete. And did I mention the helicoptor? it has been flying and saving time/lives.

New ICU and Sleep lab construction is ahead of schedule I believe.

ALL I see is constant attempts to improve this facility, so I am a bit taken back that people remember 10 years ago like it was yesterday.

Got an Idea or Gripe? PM me I will make sure someone knows that is in a position to make those changes if warranted.

I sure would prefer to see our $41,000,000.00 spatial events center monie$ be injected into something in the medical community instead of a pipe dream...

ZEB, I know you are a company man, which is good of you! However, you are never going to convince me, as I have too much personal experience with your employer. In addition, when your "traveling technicians" make fun of the outdated, antique, worthless equipment they have to work with, that kind of speaks fact!! In addition, the morale around that hospital is terrible!! There is no "personal care" given! If you are admitted there, you best be ready to take care of yourself, because nobody else will give a crap!!

As for "new Doctor", I did get a new Doctor. Of course, it is not a local Doctor. I went to a Doctor that knows what they are doing, and have the proper equipment, bedside manner, and knowledge to understand just what it is that they are supposed to be doing. God help you Zeb if you ever need emergency or hospital care!! I have found that the best knowledgeable and caring Doctor available in Dodge City is a Veternarian and a Chiropracter!

The reality of the situation is that a small town like this will probably never have the equipment of say KC or even Wichita for whatever reasons. I would say if they had more paying customers that would help but since 50% or more of the customers probably don't pay....it may put the hospital in a bind.

You've hit the nail on the head Army....You can't believe how many don't pay their hospital bill...it's staggering really.

I will say mitUSA, the hospital has made improvements from years gone by. I understand as well, that some folks who've had a bad experience won't give the place a second chance......that's their choice.

As the mother of a child with a serious heart condition, I've been all over, in Wichita, Dallas, Houston, etc. The same problems are in those places too.......we just had an experience at Wesley in Wichita that makes Dodge City's hospital look like the gold standard.....

Wow, I thinks thats a first. Being called a company man I was not trying to convience you of anything. I spoke fact. Also keep in mind that some of the "Traveling Tech's" you speak of get laughed at as well (not all, as some are very very sharp) when I have to finish a job that they can't figure out or leave unfinished. I am not an expert in medical devices so I do not know if there is better equipment in any peticular field. I would say some of our smaller devices are behind in technology but the major stuff I know is either up to todays standards or in the process of being that way.

I do not deal with Patients or their families so I do not know what goes on out on the floors. Like I have said I make no excuses. Even if we had the worst personal care in the world, I wouldn't be able to stand up to the argument. I just don't know as It has been years since I have had any personal experience (God has helped me).


What I see is patients complained that we didn't have enough room for top notch ICU care. The company agreed and now we are adding on to the building to make room for new Cath Lab and New ICU. Not everything falls on deaf ears, and you can never please everyone. The Sleep lab was too small as people complained, so we made room for it. I don't know what else could be done, you damned if you do and damned if you don't it seems.

Ileagals most often do not pay their bills which has to be written off as a loss. The amount is, well shocking. I have seen made up names, addresses, contact information, next of kin, you name it. If they would just pay their bills, we could afford better health care professional, equipment and workers.

People in need of emergency care can not be denied even though an average people can tell Jose XXXXXXez probably doesn't live at the corner of 14th and wyatt earp and their next of kin is probably not Jane Doe or Mary Smith. You can't turn them away, so everyone out here is working for free on the patients and all the meds and materials will never be paid for.
